Narrated by Australian actor Lucy Goleby
Rose Gordon knew the farm would be hers when her grandfather died.
Strong and sassy, Rose is the sole heir to five generations of cattle country and the magnificent Barrington Homestead.
But Charlie’s will is not as she expects and the appearance of Angus Hamilton on the day of the funeral unsettles her. Handsome and single, she's attracted to him. But can she trust him?
The ongoing drought and discovering she has friends, if not family, in the small rural community complicate matters.
More sinister threats lurk in the shadows.
Will Rose give up city life to face the threats head on and fight for her inheritance?

This story narrated by Lucy Goleby was a really good listen and I couldn’t put it down finished it in 2 days.
Rose and Angus were attracted to each other but there were twists and turns to get to their HEA but was really glad they persevered and fought for it. There was mystery and drama but they made it through it all to end up together. I have never read a book by Susan Mackie before but hope to get a chance to listen to another in the future. I was given a complimentary copy of this audiobook and left a voluntarily review for this audiobook.

Thank you very much Kim, I hope you try the next book in the series - A Place to Start Over.
The rural setting and small-town vibe were really engaging, and Rose is a strong, relatable heroine. The story has a nice mix of family drama, romance, and a hint of suspense that kept me listening. Lucy Goleby’s narration was clear and expressive, which added a lot to the experience.
Overall it’s an enjoyable, easy listen for anyone who likes contemporary rural romance with a touch of mystery.
Thank you so much!
wow what a great writer. Love the first 5 books of the series; currently onto the 5th one. I am an audio listener and both the story and the narrator are great. Thoroughly enjoying each character in very real type circumstances, and the description of the landscape and surrounds are what I have experienced in my visits to that region of country NSW. I am not usually a reader of this sort of stories but I am now hooked and cannot wait until the next book.
Thank you so much Michele, I'm loving the audiobooks too! Meggie & Max and Something in the Water are almost finished production and I hope to have them released by Christmas. Lucy Goleby is narrating The Barrington Book Club as we speak.
Love the narration
