I love books. Always have. From around the age of eight I wanted to be a writer. Or a professional reader, if there was such a thing.
Now I am a writer, but a huge part of my 'job' is reading. And I read more broadly than I write. But I will say, this year I've made a conscious effort to (mostly) read books by Aussie authors.
The Barrington Book Club - book 8 in the Barrington Series, was born from just that - reading the works of fellow Australian authors. In my book, my characters hold 12 book club meetings over the course of a year and read, then chat about, 12 fabulous real books. It's fun and I have lot of readers messaging me to say they've read my book, and now they've downloaded the books the characters read .... and that right there is my highest wishing coming true.
I plan to use this space to talk about books I read and books my readers recommend to me. It's a real two-way conversation that I am totally invested in! (We have a facebook group - The Barrington Book Club too - drop in there if you're keen to hear more).
